Vision

Climate action begins in the forest.

Forests are among the most effective and at the same time most vulnerable actors within the global climate system. Refora creates a frameworks that strengthen their protection and carbon sequestration capacity. By deliberately refraining from timber harvesting in selected near-natural deciduous forests, we increase standing biomass and enable long-term carbon storage over multiple decades. Our vision is a network of European forest landscapes that functions as natural infrastructure for climate mitigation and biodiversity conservation.

The Refora project was developed in accordance with the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) by Verra, the internationally recognized benchmark for quality assurance, transparency, and environmental integrity in the voluntary carbon market.
